Sugar Snap Peas Recipe
- Olive oil – I use extra virgin olive oil; it’s more flavorful than light olive oil.
- Vegan butter – Vegan butter nowadays tastes almost exactly like real butter so you won’t miss out on any buttery goodness!
- Garlic – Use fresh garlic only. And lots of it!
- Sugar snap peas – I purchased my snap peas in a small clear container with the stems and strings removed. A great many supermarkets carry them already prepared this way.
- Lemon – Zest and juice. Lemon juice can be overpowering so be careful; I only use about a teaspoon.
- Red pepper flakes – you can also use just regular cracked black pepper. I personally enjoy red pepper flakes far more for this recipe. I think they make the dish look more appetizing as well.
- Salt – A nice dash of flaky salt makes all the difference in this recipe!
How To Cook Sugar Snap Peas
- Sauté snap peas. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add in snap peas and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently until they become slightly tender.
- Add in garlic. Reduce heat to medium. Add in minced garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Add lemon, pepper, and salt. Remove pan from heat and add in lemon juice, zest, salt, and pepper, stir to combine.
Cooking Tips
You may be wondering why I add in the minced garlic after cooking the snap peas for a few minutes. That’s because garlic can brown easily. You’ll want to soften the snap peas up a bit first by cooking them in just butter and olive oil. Then add in the garlic to flavor up the dish.
