What Is Mango Black Bean Salsa?
Mango Black Bean Salsa is a salsa similar to Texas caviar. Texas Caviar is a type of salad which is also made with beans and can be served as a dip. However, this salsa is different because it has mango which makes it refreshing, sweet, and savory. This salsa can be eaten as a dip, a salad, or a side dish.
What I Love About This Recipe
- Easy to make. Only 7 ingredients and no cooking. Also, cleanup takes just minutes.
- It’s flavorful. The perfect flavor combo of sweet mango, spicy red onion, and savory cumin.
- It’s a dip a salad, and a side. Eat it with chips, as a salad, or serve it with tacos or any other Mexican dish. I also love that this salsa is a well-balanced meal because it includes black beans which are a great source of protein.
- It’s healthy. This salsa is made with all healthy ingredients. Both mango and black beans are high in antioxidants. Black beans are also high in fiber.(1)(2)
- It’s gluten-free. No bread or gluten products are used in this salsa.
- It’s vegan. All ingredients in this recipe are plant-based.
- It’s oil-free.
Recipe Ingredients
- Mango – Use fresh mango only.
- Black beans – I used canned black beans for this salsa.
- Red onion – I love using red onion here because it adds both color and spiciness.
- Red bell pepper – You can also use green or yellow.
- Cilantro
- Lemon juice
- Cumin – Though I only use 1/4 teaspoon, cumin adds a lot of flavor and it’s a nice contrast to the sweetness of the mango.

This is a very simple recipe so I have but one tip: cut all ingredients the same size. This makes the salsa more enjoyable because each bite is likely to contain a well-balanced mixture of all ingredients. Additionally, it makes the salsa look prettier.
Recipe Variations
- Make it spicy by adding in jalapeno pepper.
- Add avocado.
- Toss in some tomatoes.
- Add corn.
- Try using kidney beans instead of black beans.
How To Serve Mango Black Bean Salsa

- Add it to the top of salads like my Southwest Quinoa Salad or Taco Salad.
- As a side served with Lentil Tacos, Vegan Chimichangas, or Chipotle Sofritas.
